The Chernobyl disaster (Ukrainian: Чорнобильська катастрофа, Chornobylska Katastrofa -- Chornobyl Catastrophe) was a catastrophic nuclear accident that occurred on 26 April 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine (then officially Ukrainian SSR), which was under the direct jurisdiction of the central authorities of the Soviet Union. An explosion and fire released large quantities of radioactive particles into the atmosphere, which spread over much of Western USSR and Europe.

And it is a very good film, based on a accurate inquiry about uranium.

A Time-lapse Map of Every Nuclear Explosion

From 1945 to 2010

Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto has created a beautiful, undeniably scary time-lapse map of the 2053 nuclear explosions which have taken place between 1945 and 1998, beginning with the Manhattan Project's "Trinity" test near Los Alamos and concluding with Pakistan's nuclear tests in May of 1998. This leaves out North Korea's two alleged nuclear tests in this past decade (the legitimacy of both of which is not 100% clear)

Einstein and Atomic Weapons

The Story of His role in the creation of the Atomic Bomb.

Great documentary on Albert Einstein and the quest for atomic weapons. Einstein was faced with a dilemma; assist the Allies in acquiring the ability to build atomic weapons or allow the real possibility of Hitler of acquiring the bomb? Very interesting documentary.

This nuclear accident released 13 million curies of radioactive gases into the atmosphere and caused a loss of USD 2,400. 10 court cases were also filed on various authorities, concerning this accident, and they took 15 long years to get settled.
